Fuel Prices Rocket Up

I don't want to po anyone but something needs to be done.
Who runs this country? It isn't all about Bush.
Who cares about those who work for a living? Anyone.
Yesterday prices were what $2.53 a gallon this morning and late yesterday afternoon up almost 16 cents more to $2.69.
If anyone in our government system cared about the working people, they would hear their plight and listen to their concerns and do something.
Today i watched as a woman paid for $5 in gas, heck not even two gallons in gasoline, but her last $5 and all i heard her say was, i have to be able to get to work. Thank God it's pay day and the weekend. Maybe i can afford food.
I didn't have to ask the lady where she worked as the uniform told me, i did ask one question, do you live alone.
Her reply was no im married, but even with me and my husband working and him making $9 an hour, it takes all we can do to travel back and forth to work and raise two children. We both have had to take lower paying jobs, due to our jobs being cut.
If those in control.
Congress and others cared about the working people. They would do something to help.
So other than trying to look good politically over other issues, who cares about the average low income working person in the US. Anyone?
My question is we have a check and balance system. Why is no one questioning the fuel prices and doing something about it to help folks.
Do they not realize right now with our dependency on oil and the rising prices it also makes everything else cost more.
Im not rocket scientist. But i can do some math. If it cost me more to get something here. Im gonna have to charge more to sell it.
Come on folks. This isn't all just Bush. This is a lot of people who seem to not care. More worried about their political careers, than the people they are suppose to be looking out for.

I feel ya on this issue. It's horrible. It's stupid and ridiculous to be raising prices. What are they raising them for anyway? It's not like we are in shortage, or anything of that sort. It's just the simple fact, the oil companies and making the quick millions on millions. The government is going to have to step in and put a stop to this nonsense.

It sucks for college kids a lot. The ones who don't get financial aid, and have to pay with student loans. We have jobs, to help us pay our college tuition, but now can barely afford to drive to work and school. It sucks, i guess my weekends will be sat at home now. School and to work is about all I can afford anymore.

Slurp, Slurp, that is the sucking sound large companies make as they draw the last bits of life out of this "free" country. It is all tied up, the big companies ran the mom and pops out in the 60s and have a stranglehold better'n Ted Nugents on the fuel market. You won't get any help from this oval office. HAHA, last year it was a storm, this year they are "switching to a summer blend " .I guess gas burns different in the summer? Only good thing is energy is energy and coal follows oil, but since they can't EXPORT the coal mines, some companies are trying to import cheap workers. not directed towards anyone on here, I am as guilty as anybody.

all I've heard since Katrina is how awful gas prices have gotten, yes the prices are getting ( have been ) rediculous, but there is one way to do something about it..... write your respective congressman, I mean the number of people that complain about it, you'd think would make a little noise, BUT, I have never heard of anyone writing, e-mailing, or however you can to voice thier opinion. To be honest I wouldn't even know how to go about getting the right address for the right person to complain to. So maybe somebody could put up the address on here and everybody take a little time out and voice you opinion.

If no one speaks up why should we complain. I know the following three at least will be getting and email from me. I hope everyone on this board post their concerns.

The Price Of Eggs

A man eats two eggs each morning for breakfast. When he goes to the grocery store he pays .60 cents a dozen. Since a dozen eggs won't last a week he normally buys two dozen at a time.

One day while buying eggs he notices that the price has risen to .72 cents. The next time he buys groceries, eggs are 76 cents a dozen. When asked to explain the price of eggs the store owner says, "The price has gone up and I have to raise my price accordingly."

This store buys 100 dozen eggs a day. I checked around for a better price and all the distributors have raised their prices. The distributors have begun to buy from the huge egg farms. The small egg farms have been driven out of business.

The huge egg farms sells 100,000 dozen eggs a day to distributors. With no competition, they can set the price as they see fit. The distributors then have to raise their prices to the grocery stores. And on and on and on. As the man kept buying eggs the price kept going up. He saw the big egg trucks delivering 100 dozen eggs each day. Nothing changed there.

He checked out the huge egg farms and found they were selling 100,000 dozen eggs to the distributors daily. Nothing had changed but the price of eggs.

Then week before Thanksgiving the price of eggs shot up to $1.00 a dozen. Again he asked the grocery owner why and was told, "Cakes and baking for the holiday." The huge egg farmers know there will be a lot of baking going on and more eggs will be used. Hence, the price of eggs goes up. Expect the same thing at Christmas and other times when family cooking and baking increase.

This pattern continues until the price of eggs is $2.00 a dozen. The man says, "There must be something we can do about the price of eggs."

He starts talking to all the people in his town and they decide to stop buying eggs. This didn't work because everyone needed eggs. Finally, the man suggested only buying what you need.

He ate 2 eggs a day. On the way home from work he would stop at the grocery and buy two eggs. Everyone in town started buying 2 or 3 eggs a day.

The grocery store owner began complaining that he had too many eggs in his cooler. He told the distributor that he didn't need any eggs. Maybe wouldn't need any all week.

The distributor had eggs piling up at his warehouse. He told the huge egg farms that he didn't have any room for eggs would not need any for at least two weeks.

At the egg farm, the chickens just kept on laying eggs.

To relieve the pressure, the huge egg farm told the distributor that they could buy the eggs at a lower price. The distributor said, " I don't have the room for the %$&^*&% eggs even if they were free."

The distributor told the grocery store owner that he would lower the price of the eggs if the store would start buying again. The grocery store owner said, "I don't have room for more eggs. The customers are only buying 2 or 3 eggs at a time."

"Now if you were to drop the price of eggs back down to the original price, the customers would start buying by the dozen again."

The distributors sent that proposal to the huge egg farmers. They liked the price they were getting for their eggs but, them chickens just kept on laying.

Finally, the egg farmers lowered the price of their eggs. But only a few cents. The customers still bought 2 or 3 eggs at a time.

They said, "when the price of eggs gets down to where it was before, we will start buying by the dozen."

Slowly the price of eggs started dropping. The distributors had to slash their prices to make room for the eggs coming from the egg farmers.

The egg farmers cut their prices because the distributors wouldn't buy at a higher price than they were selling eggs for.

Anyway, they had full warehouses and wouldn't need eggs for quite a while.

And the chickens kept on laying....

Eventually, the egg farmers cut their prices because they were throwing away eggs they couldn't sell. The distributors started buying again because the eggs were priced to where the stores could afford to sell them at the lower price.

And the customers starting buying by the dozen again.

Now, transpose this analogy to the gasoline industry.

What if everyone only bought $10.00 worth of gas each time they pulled to the pump.

The dealers tanks would stay semi full all the time.

The dealers wouldn't have room for the gas coming from the huge tank farms.

The tank farms wouldn't have room for the gas coming from the refining plants. And the refining plants wouldn't have room for the oil being off loaded from the huge tankers coming from the Middle East.

Just $10.00 each time you buy gas. Don't fill it up. You may have to stop for gas twice a week but, the price should come down.

Think about it.

As an added note...When I buy $10.00 worth of gas, that leaves my tank a little under half full. The way prices are jumping around, you can buy gas for $2.65 a gallon and then the next morning it can be $2.15. If you have your tank full of $2.65 gas you don't have room for the $2.15 gas. You might not understand the economics of only buying two eggs at a time but, you can't buy cheaper gas if your tank is full of the high priced stuff.

Also, don't buy anything else at the gas station. Don't give them any more of your hard earned money than what you spend on gas until the prices come down.

I know this anology isn't perfect - but it gives consumers something to think about

Actually something i have been doing elp6n. When i get to a 1/2 tank or right now with the prices a 1/4 tank i fill up. The tank back up.
My only concern is why is our overseers not doing more. When people have to decide between food or gas to get to work and then not enough to even get but a little over a gallon, we got some serious problems.
I hope people do use the links above and voice their opinion and concerns.
The companies made history making profits last year and are headed to even higher profits this year.
To me it's time the averager working person gets a break from making the rich richer.
If converting the fuel is a problem. Well the government is quick to help out others with government contracts. Halliburton lost no money with the war on terrorism. But we can't use government contacts to do a few refineries.
The excuses are beginning to run out.
Your analogy is right on line with the fuel cost.
People trying to work should not have to take half their pay day to use to get to work. Is that the great American dream. Come to America so you can't afford to go to work, because you can't afford the fuel, and in rural areas, you can't bicycle to work.
And honestly how many 50-60 yr olds could put in a 10 hr day and then bicycle to and from work.
Our government is not looking out for it's own work force.

I say we form a clan, split up into several groups, and have each group cut off an individual gas station from any traffic what-so-ever!

Sandbags, barbed wire, and concrete barricades to hold off any law enforcement guys that come to bust the show!

Why are we in Iraq? To protect the Bush family's interest in that region's oil supply. Anybody telling you anything different is as naive as if they just dropped from the womb. And why are prices up? May be a myriad of reasons, but the Saudi's are making a killing, even more than they did before and ol' George W. and Sr. are riding that wave to a comfy retirement.
